AMUNI Policies
Official Policies of AMUNI
Delegate Code of Conduct
Delegates should display respect for the opinions and positions of other delegates and participate in the spirit of diplomacy and engagement during the conference. This includes respecting the priorities of other delegation's positions that may run counter to either your nation's positions or those that you personally hold. A significant element of effective Model United Nations is strategic empathy--the ability to emphasize and understand the motivations behind another person's beliefs or actions.
Collaboration is a must at AMUNI! Another critical element of Model UN is collaboration through diplomacy and negotiation. Delegates should work hard to find common ground with other delegates and work together to address the massive problems you are tasked with addressing.
Delegates are expected to behave in a respectful and mature manner while on Auburn's campus, including but not limited to abiding by all laws and regulations of Auburn, AL and the university as well as those of your respective institutions. Violation of any of these policies or rules may subject a delegate to removal from the conference. If in doubt, either ask before doing something or don't do it!
Delegates should avoid being disruptive or behave unprofessionally during the conference. A signficant component of Model United Nations is the ability to role-play effectively as a diplomatic representative of your assigned member-state. If you behave inappropriately, you will reflect poorly not just on yourself, but also your assigned member-state and your high school.
Badges
All delegates will be provided with badges indicating their assigned member-state. Additionally, badges, as worn by delegates, conference staff, and other official/approved guests indicate which individuals are associated with the conference and those that are not. Avoid interacting with anyone that is not associated with the conference, including but not limited to Auburn University students that may be present in the area around the conference.
Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Policy
AMUNI and Auburn University have a zero tolerance for sexual harassment or discrimination based on race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, or medical condition. If any participant observes or experiences what they believe to be harassment or discrimination, they should immediately notify a member of AMUNI staff and/or their faculty advisor/sponsor.
If a participant engages in any form of harassment or discrimination, they are subject to a series of possible actions from AMUNI, including, but not limited to:
Taking of no formal action;
Issuance of a verbal reprimand;
Removal of the involved individual(s) from the conference, and/or;
Implementation of any action that the AMUNI Executive Staff deems appropriate in consultation with the individual(s) institution and/or sponsors.
